Never put your knife in the dishwasher. Use warm water, dishwashing detergent and a soft cloth to clean your knife.
Don’t leave your knife in a dish rack or uncovered in a drawer. Not only is it dangerous to people, other utensils and cutlery can bump and damage the knife.
Ensure your knife is properly dry before storing. Use a dry tea towel or a fresh paper towel. A damp tea towel or cloth will leave moisture on the blade.
For daily storage of your knife, we recommend a wood/leather-faced magnetic rack or a wooden knife stand. Steel magnetic racks can be quite rough on your knife.
For long-term storage, thoroughly clean and dry your knife. Once dry, apply a thin coating of camellia or mineral oil and store inside a knife wallet or saya. If you do not have a knife wallet or saya, wrap in a soft, clean and dry cloth or towel.
For extra-long-term storage, like putting your knife into a storage container - get in touch with us and we can recommend some processes.
To care for your knife handle, keep it clean and dry. Regularly apply a thin coat of mineral oil or a food-safe finish and wipe dry. Visually inspect the handle for any signs of swelling or cracks. Even stabilised timber can move over time and whilst we do our best to ensure our handles will last a long time, issues can arise. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you do notice an issue.
